Mr. Kassim caught this 2.4kg Threadfin this morning when the tide was halfway up. I gaff it for him. I myself only caught a Gaf fish which was released back.

One Night Two Rays

One Night Two Rays

Tide has full and started to turn down. My Penn Powergraph Surf rod pair with a Penn 113HLW reel was the first to go. The alarm sounded and the line gone loose. Seng was the first to reach the rod and he strike. I took over and the fish was taken out line. After awhile I feel the fish was surfacing up. I thought it was a cobia and was more carefull. But after awhile I manage to saw the fish and it was a small ray. It was wash up by the current flow. I wind it in and use my hand to pull it up. Estimate it weight around 2kg. One guy walk over and ask me to sell it to him. Haha.. I was lazy to cut so I ask him to offer me a price. After some thinking he offer ten dollar... I took a plastic bag and pack it up for him...hehe...

Fifteen minute later...Jerry Zipplex M4 rod pair with a Daiwa LD50 reel alarm was screaming. Finally this virgin rod open account. Again Seng was the first to strike. Jerry was a bit slow in reaction. He took over and the fish was taking line out. He gave a few pump on the rod when the fish stop. After awhile the fish was already on the water surface. I gaff it up and it weight 9.2kg. It has set this year bedok jetty up todate biggest fish and biggest ray landed record. He was shy to take a photo on his catch so I taken on his behalf.

A new mark set.....

10.1kg Brown stingray

DATE : 01-08-2008    TIME: 10.00pm      ROD: Zzipplex XTR 12.6ft     REEL: Shimano Torium 16     LINE: 25lbs mono      RIG: Long snood bottom feeder      BAIT: Fresh Squid.

White landed this ray when the tide is about to full. Infact before he started to set up his gear, I had told them that tonight we stand a chance to caught a fish as the current and tide is good but don't know wjich rod the fish choose to take. Eventually it decide to take White bait. Again this fish has beat the previous biggest fish and biggest ray record for this year. Awhile later Samad also caught a giant herring around 1kg.

Double Landed

10kg Wild Barramundi

DATE: 02-11-2008    TIME: 00.30am      ROD: Penn Inxs Groundcast 13ft.     REEL: Daiwa LD50      LINE: 30lbs mono     RIG: Two hook short snood bottom feeder      BAIT: Live prawn

Hong has not target this fish for quite long. He has already landed 19 there and are looking for his number 20. This early morning he did it again. It all happen when Ah Dam who also targeting this fish has a hookup. He was a distance away when it happen. Running over to grab his rod and pump was a bit too late. The fish manage to snap the line and break free but not for long. Hong who was also around notice his rod has some movement. He grab his rod n pump...YES...it on....Haha....the fish break free but has entangle Hong line. With some hard dive n turn, the fish is brought to the surface where a landing net is waiting. Without much effort it was bring up to the jetty. Wow.....all the crowd has gather to see this 10kg wild monster....haha...but not for long....the crowd change direction to another end of the jetty...

They didn't know that while watching the barramundi at the same time the other end of the jetty is fighting another monster..

18kg Shovelnose Shark

DATE: 02-11-2008     TIME: 0030am      ROD: Penn Slammer      REEL: Penn 555GS      LINE: 50lbs mono      RIG: Long snood bottom feeder       BAIT: Fresh Squid

When Yasli saw the other end of the jetty is fighting the barramundi, suddenly his reel alarm has some screaching. Without delay he grab his rod and strike....YES...It on. With 50lbs new mono line just loaded on before tonight fishing, he gave no chance for the fish. Within minute the fish is already been pump to the front of the jetty. Kassim his buddy tonight is already holding a rope gaff waiting. With one cast he manage to gaff on the fish. But the fish still fresh with strong power made a last minute dash downward..pulling him forward and he has to shout for help. Yasli had to put down his rod and come to help him pull the rope and bring the fish up. Within ten munite the fish is already on the floor struggling. Hoho...this is a female one and look slightly bigger n longer. It hit the scale at 18kg. With this it has rewrite the record of 13kg I broke last weekend.

33kg Brown Stingray

DATE: 09-11-2008      TIME: 11.45pm      ROD: Zzipplex Profile 13ft       REEL: Penn Internation TRQ 300

LINE: 50lbs     RIG: Long Snood Bottom Feeder      BAIT: Fresh Squid

Rod owner Siong is a beginner for big game surf fishing. So when his reel alarm slowly sounded, he didn't move in to strike. It was another newbie Amin who grab the rod and strike. But very fast he found that it is not and easy task as the fish take out line after lines. He pass over to Vincent who happen to fish tonight after a long break. By now Siong has call in Leng kia to help. At one stage the fish almost empty the spool with it run but luckily it stop just before the line run out. This gave the angler to regain line back. With many tug of war, the rod again passed over to Simon. At the last phase, it was Tee Kia who hold the rod. Eventually this five man manage to subdue this monster and gaff it up. Too big for a 22kg scale so they cut it up to weigh. Overall it weight 30kg without the fluid, the blood, the tail and the internal organ. Added all this up estimate it should exceed 33kg.
